The New Year Doesn’t Need New Goals. It Needs a Simple Starting Point.

On This Page

January arrives loud.
New goals. New plans. New pressure to decide everything at once.

But clarity doesn’t come from mapping out an entire year.
It comes from choosing a starting point.

When everything feels important, the most helpful question isn’t What do I want this year?
It’s What needs my attention today?

Big goals can inspire, but they can also freeze us. Research on cognitive load and decision fatigue shows that too many choices at once reduce follow-through. When the bar feels too high, it’s easier to delay than to begin.

That’s why I don’t start the year with promises.
I start with a process.

A Reset Instead of a Resolution

The 15-Minute Reset Method is grounded in research around focus, attention, and behavior change. Short, intentional pauses help the brain reduce overload and re-engage with what matters most.

In fifteen intentional minutes, I can:

Clear mental noise
Name one priority
Choose one grounded action

No pressure to reinvent myself. No expectation to feel motivated. Just a clear next step.

This reset works best when it follows a pause. Letting go before stepping forward changes how January feels. I talk more about that transition in a simple reset before the year ends.

Why Action Matters More Than Goals

Momentum isn’t created by perfect planning. It’s created by movement. Behavioral research consistently shows that small actions build confidence and increase the likelihood of continued progress.

This reset doesn’t ask you to commit to the year.
It asks you to show up for today.

When motivation fades, action is what keeps things moving. I explore that idea more deeply in how momentum comes from action, not motivation.

If you want a simple, research-informed way to begin the year without pressure, the 15-Minute Reset Method Workbook offers a steady place to start.
