December has a way of feeling heavy.
There’s the pressure to reflect, to close loops, to somehow make sense of an entire year while still showing up for everything else.
This is not that kind of reflection.
You don’t need to review twelve months.
You don’t need a highlight reel or a list of regrets.
You just need a pause.
A Gentle End-of-Year Reset
Before the year turns, I take fifteen minutes to do three simple things:
Notice what feels complete
Name what still feels open
Decide what doesn’t need to come with me
That’s it.
No judging how the year went. No ranking wins or failures. Just an honest check-in with where I actually am.
This kind of pause works because it’s simple and repeatable. It’s the same reset process I rely on throughout the year in how I use simple processes to move forward.
Why This Matters
When we rush straight into the next year without pausing, we carry unnecessary weight forward. Mental clutter doesn’t disappear on January 1st unless we intentionally set it down.
A small reset creates space.
Space for clarity.
Space for rest.
Space to begin again without pressure.
You can do this reset anytime in December. At your desk. On the couch. Between commitments. It’s not about timing. It’s about intention.
Letting go before the year ends makes it easier to begin again, which is exactly what I talk about in a simple way to start the new year without pressure.
If you want a simple structure to guide that pause, the 15-Minute Reset Method Workbook was created for exactly moments like this.
